No matter how old you are, it’s never too soon or too late to be worried about aging skin care. Your skin, being the outermost layer of your body, is the part of you that people see, and reflects your overall state of health and age. The best method of aging skin care is to start young. The effects of age on skin doesn’t happen overnight, and actually starts occurring right after you’re born. Actually, you could even argue that your skin begins to ‘age’ the moment it is formed inside the womb. Although it seems to age all of a sudden for a lot of people, in a period of just a few years, the visible effects of aging skin are the result of a process that has been happening for as long as you’ve been alive.

So the sooner the better with aging skin care. What causes skin to age is a few different things, but the major visible reason for aging skin comes down to damage done to the elastic proteins your skin has to keep it tight. What causes the damage is chiefly free radicals. What the heck are free radicals you ask? A free radical is just a fancy chemistry word for an oxygen compound gone wrong. It actually doesn’t have to be oxygen, but in our environment it almost always is. An oxygen molecule that has been split is highly reactive and very corrosive to pretty much everything it comes in contact with, including the proteins in your skin.

Since oxygen is everywhere, you can’t really avoid this corrosive effect all together. However, you can lower the amount of free radicals that occur in your skin in a few ways. UV radiation is a major source of free radicals, as it is just the right wavelength to split oxygen molecules, so staying out of the sun is a good form of aging skin care. A little sun light everyday is okay, and actually good for you, but its never a good idea to lay out all day in the sun if you’re worried about aging skin care. Even using sunscreen, some UV rays are going to get through and do damage over time.

Another key form of aging skin care is to avoid tobacco and alcohol. Smoking anything, especially tobacco, is a great way to infuse your entire body with free radicals, and too much drinking will do the same.

The best ways I know for aging skin care are the above preventative measures, as these are the only real ways to keep young looking skin. Once wrinkles occur, you can’t get rid of them without surgery, and aging skin care products are just different ways of covering them up.

Few things in my life do I use more often and enjoy than my mp3 music player. Well, maybe its not all that great, but I do really love the idea of mp3 music players. I’m so tired of CDs I could just scream. Sure, they’re way better than the different forms of music storage mediums that came before, but that’s not saying a whole lot. There’s nothing more frustrating than putting on your favorite CD only to hear it skip like crazy during the best songs.

Even taking extremely good care of my CDs, they still somehow get scratched all the time. Furthermore, just trying to keep all my CDs organized is a major hassle. I think I’ve spent many hours putting CDs away in different folds and organizing the different CD cases, and while this used to be kind of fun back when I was in high school and didn’t own many albums, now that I’ve got a large collection it is a total drag. For these reasons alone, I’ve been a big fan of mp3 music players since they first started hitting markets several years ago.

The first mp3 music players were ridiculously expensive, but I just had to have one. Maybe I’m just a technology junkie, or maybe I had just finally had enough of CDs. I do remember the first mp3 music players came out shortly after I’d had my main CD holding folder filled with 90% of the music I’d collected over the years stolen. I’m sure that also had something to do with my decision to make the plunge and get an mp3 music player. I’d already spent a small fortune rebuilding my CD collection, so I guess I figured why not spend another small fortune, get an mp3 music player, and never have to worry about stolen or scratched CDs again?

While I haven’t been worrying much about stolen or scratched CDs since then, I have been worrying about crappy mp3 music players a lot. The first one I bought was such a piece of garbage compared to the newer ones, its not even funny. Fortunately, the mp3 music player I have now is pretty sweet. It’s made by Panasonic, works with my car and has all sorts of neat little features.

Of course, now that the mp3 music players have gotten good, Apple just had to come out with something better. Their iPods are in fact pretty nice, but they of course have their own spiffy music format that doesn’t work with other mp3 music players. Isn’t that just so typically Apple?

Over-plucking: Yes, shapely, contoured eyebrows are fabulous and can add a lot of sophistication to your look. Scraggly or invisible eyebrows, on the other hand, are just that – scraggly or invisible. For the $12 or less it can cost to have your brows professionally waxed, it’s worth the money to have someone else shape your brows. If you insist on doing it yourself, be careful not to remove too much hair. Selective plucking may be your best option. Pluck just after you’ve showered so hair pops out more easily. Brush your brows into place, and then using a good set of tweezers, gently remove hair from under the arch of your eyebrow and outside the natural brow line. Do a little at a time, stepping back periodically to inspect your work from a distance.

Unnatural tan: A deep, sun-drenched tan looks great but too much time in the sun can be bad for you skin and for your health. Tanning beds have only marginal benefits in terms of reducing our exposure to harmful UV rays, so many women turn to tanning lotions to achieve that sun-bronzed look.

Be aware! Not all tanning and bronzing lotions are created equal. Some will give your skin a sickly orange tinge while others are difficult to apply and end up streaky. Do a small test patch in a normally covered area to find out how the lotion will look on your skin. This takes a little extra time, but the effort is worth it. You want a natural-looking tan, not an application of finger paint.

In addition to choosing the wrong kind of tanning product, many women (and men) forget to apply it all over. Your feet will thank you if you apply more lotion again before going to sleep.

Garish makeup: Not all colors were meant to be worn by all people. All those lovely lipstick shades might look great in the store, but not so good on you. Choose neutral colors for daytime use and slightly bolder colors for evening. Remember that colors change under different light, so what looks good in the cosmetics section of the department store, might not look the same under your office lights. Consult a cosmetician (it’s usually free) to find out what your best colors are and build from there.
